KS3 & beyond
The majority of our pupils continue their education at local secondary schools and grammar schools in the Southend/Westcliff area. We plan carefully for our pupils' transition to secondary school. Most of this preparation work takes place in year five and year six, with our colleagues from Greensward Academy.

On the run-up to leaving Westerings, we ensure our Y6 pupils get a fantastic send-off! In 2022, we consulted with parent representatives, WPSA members and staff to ensure we have a clear expectation on what each stakeholder arranges for our pupils during their 'Leavers Week'. As you'll see from the below, it's a great way to celebrate up to 7 years at WPA!
PARENTS:
Leavers party last day of school - off site.
Attending school Leavers' event.
Balloon arch / decorations at the main entrance in readiness for children leaving school for the last time.
SCHOOL:
Curriculum - E.g D.T. day
Movie afternoon
Enterprise Project cash-in (purchasing for next year's Y6)
Parade - last day throughout the school
Awards / Leavers assembly - medals.
End of year production
Shirt signing
Residential (e.g. Sealeyham)
Optional fun-dress for final afternoon (e.g. wigs/tutus over uniform)
WPSA:
Autograph books - handed to pupils in leavers' assembly by Chair of WPSA.
Ice pops
Popcorn for Movie afternoon
In Autumn term 1, we will Invite parent representatives in to discuss how the parents are going to organise their elements to fit in with school activities. In early summer, we will then email parents in Y6 with final confirmation of the timeline of events.
